A British Airways crew member was found dead in a hotel room after a stopover in San Francisco this week.
The man,who has not been named,was due to work the cabin on flight back to London Heathrow Airport on Thursday afternoon.
But concern was raised after he failed to report for duty or answer the phone.
He was found dead in bed when hotel managers unlocked the door to his room at the hotel.
The cabin crew member had been staying there since arriving on a BA flight to San Francisco International Airport on Tuesday.
A BA spokesperson told Metro: ‘Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of our colleague at this difficult time.’
It is not yet clear how or when the crew member died. The return BA 284 flight at 4.20pm on April 17 was cancelled.
The airline booked passengers into hotels to await alternative arrangements.
BA resumed service on the route on Thursday.
Last year,a 47-yearold BA pilot collapsed in front of guests and died at a luxury hotel on the Caribbean island of St Lucia in November.
The airline had to cancel a flight to London Gatwick as a result.
Another crew member ‘suddenly dropped dead’ moments before a flight from Heathrow to Hong Kong the previous December.
The 52-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
