Beijing, Nov. 8 (Xinhua, by Wang Huiwen) -- technology changes the world, and innovation determines the future, among which the power of women is indispensable. At the 3rd World Science and Technology Development Forum, Forum on Women in Science on November 7, "A human health community needs more wisdom and strength of women" was the broad consensus formed by more than 200 women scientists at home and abroad.

The forum focused on the challenges and countermeasures brought by human health, artificial intelligence and information technology, social responsibility of women scientists, and experience, practice and reflection on science and technology governance and evaluation.

In the keynote presentation and discussion, a number of distinguished representatives, including Wang Chih-chen, a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Wang Hongyang, a Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), shared terrific reports. They talked about their latest achievements in scientific research, innovation stories and unique insights. They used their own experiences to encourage more women to join the cause of science and technology innovation and shape the international research environment to be warmer, opener and more trusting.

The representatives of Chinese scientists repeatedly talked about the critical importance our government attaches to scientific research, the support for the development of women scientists, and the increasingly gender-friendly environment of scientific research organizations, all of which showcase that our science and technology community is welcoming women more openly.

The participants believed that the importance of science and technology innovation had been highlighted more than ever before. As the organizer of the forum, the Chinese Association of Women in Science and Technology held a special symposium on November 6 to discuss in-depth how to further support and serve women in science and technology, with the hope that the whole society would give more attention and equal opportunities to women in science and technology and encourage women in science and technology to carry forward the spirit of self-respect, self-confidence, self-reliance and self-improvement to keep on achieving transcendence and breakthrough in their respective fields.
