By the Xiang River, a sparkling emerald gem shines. The bilingual micro video “Changsha in One Minute” invites you to explore Qianlong Lake in Wangcheng, Changsha, and experience its blend of natural ecology and cultural charm.
Covering a water area of 2,480 mu, Qianlong Lake glistens under the sun, home to more than 100 bird species and about 400 kinds of wild plants, with aquatic vegetation covering up to 63% of the lake. As a National Wetland Park and a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area, it serves as both a pure sanctuary for birds and a serene ecological living room for the city.
Rooted in ecology and inspired by culture and tourism, Qianlong Lake offers a rich array of experiences — from sunny beaches, lavender trails, and starry sky tents to pastoral family fields, dragon boat races, and lively fishing activities. Its cultural and tourism appeal is further enhanced by its deep connection with the nearby thousand-year-old Jinggang Ancient Town. During the day, sightseeing boats shuttle along the waterways and street performances enliven the town, recreating the grand scene of “a thousand sails entering the harbor.” In the historic Bayuantang Hall, traditional flower-drum opera and Sichuan face-changing shows are performed in turn, while the nighttime live performance “Flowers Bloom in Jinggang” vividly showcases the charm of Huxiang culture.
Today, Qianlong Lake, embodying the vision of “A Lake Revitalizes Culture and Tourism,” is weaving together the vitality of nature and the allure of ancient towns, injecting new momentum into Changsha’s efforts to highlight its rich Huxiang cultural heritage and build itself into an international cultural and tourism destination.
